Twelve months ago I started Pilates to help maintain my mobility, improve my flexibility and overall fitness.   Six months prior I was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s. I had muscle pain, back issues and a tremor.

My wife is a pilates-holic with Gen at Body Sense Pilates. She loves it and suggested to me to try a new men’s class opening up in the early evenings.

I’m not a good group fitness person. I work outdoors, daily and don’t do gyms.

I now do a private Pilates session and 2 group sessions a week.  I’m hooked.

My overall health and fitness has improved, I don’t have the back issues I used to have.  I am stronger in my core and therefore have better posture, muscle toning and overall well-being.

The private sessions and intro course enabled me to better understand how to get the most out of each exercise.  I’m not the fastest at the exercise, I don’t want to be, but I want to do it correctly and get the most out of it. I have gained flexibility, muscle tone and overall better agility.

With my previous back issues there are some exercises, that I now do, that I would never have attempted.  With the regular Pilates programme at Body Sense I am more resilient to injury, more flexible and have better well being.

I go weekly, regularly and get real benefit. The men’s classes are focused on building and sustaining our core strength, our flexibility and our muscle tone.  It’s about enjoying it, pushing yourself and reducing the muscle pain from a day’s work. It’s not about rah rah loud and groupie, it’s about what you can achieve yourself and mostly about enjoying the exercise.

Gen’s knowledge and planning ensure we are well pushed, stretched and improve our flexibility.

I can see real benefit in the last year and this is reflected in my overall health and well being.
