Gen is an outstanding instructor with a wealth of experience. She strikes a brilliant balance between encouraging you, firmly pushing you to extend yourself, correcting you to ensure you are doing things accurately and giving you clear explanations for what the exercises accomplish. She teaches with warmth and humour. Her programmes are varied and fun.
I began at ‘Bodysense Pilates’ a year ago because my lower back pain made it difficult to sit or bend down comfortably and my gardening days left me constantly with headaches and backache. My core muscles were non-existent. It was time to face the cure head on. One year later I can sit comfortably again, and the after-effects of gardening have lessened greatly. I am also very aware of engaging certain muscles when bending and lifting.
Large classes in a gym have no attraction for me – I can never follow the instructions quickly enough. ‘Bodysense’ appealed because of its free introductory lesson and then individual instruction so I could gain some confidence before joining the small classes of between 3 and 7 on reformer beds. The gradual introduction was perfect.
