As an automotive technician of 30 plus years, I’ve suffered with back issues a lot. I would put my back out at least twice a year. This would generally mean having to be flat on my back for up to 5 days, multiple sessions with an osteopath and weeks of feeling tender.
I started Pilates nearly two years ago and since then have not put my back out once. The core strength, flexibility and lengthening of my muscles I have gained from Pilates, has contributed to protecting my back from injury. I’m sure that this, along with breathing techniques learnt, is the reason my back is much stronger and stable.
I also enjoy the fact that during each session I have to let go of any day to day worries and stresses and concentrate solely on myself. I always leave afterwards feeling de-stressed and fully stretched.
I started Pilates in the Men of Action series and have made new friends and positive networking from this.
