I have recently completed the Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk and was very impressed with how my body coped with the 46km 4 day tramp.
I believe this was because of the 3 months of twice-weekly reformer Pilates classes, which I attended at Bodysense Studio in Bethlehem before the tramp.
Gen (the owner and principal instructor) ensures the technique of each Pilate exercise is executed through precise, clear instruction. This allowed me to gain maximum benefit while remaining safe performing each movement.
Before commencing the classes with Gen I had old injuries which restricted some movements and caused pain; I also wasn’t exercising regularly and felt lethargic.
However, I was delighted to experience no problems with any of the old injuries during the tramp! I feel the conditioning of my body through the Reformer Pilate exercises gave me the strength and flexibility to cope well. Obviously my energy levels had also hugely improved!
I would highly recommend Bodysense Studio Pilate classes to not only gain/improve everyday functional fitness but also to obtain fitness goals such as an intermediate grade 4 day tramp.
